David Henry Turner, 84, passed away on September 21, 2019 in Salem, Oregon. He was born on February 15, 1935 in the family home in Salem, Oregon to Henry Douglas and Pansy Louise (Milliken) Turner. He attended Salem Academy, and graduated in 1954. Following graduation, David worked and attended Western Seminary. On December 18, 1959, David married the love of his life, Mary Paine. They had three children: Wesley, Anne and Ruth. They were married until his passing. In 1960, David graduated from Western Seminary with his Master’s in Divinity. David and Mary moved to Silverton, where he worked for 12 years as the Pastor of First Baptist Church. The family then moved to Salem, where they built the family home that they lived in for 40 years! David went to work as a Sales Representative for Tyndale Publishing – he worked there for 30 years, and then retired. David is described by his family as a man of deep faith and devotion, who enjoyed studying God’s word, prayer and mentoring others. He taught Sunday School, and even when he was in Memory Care, he still took the opportunity to pray for the residents. His family will always treasure the memories of the family gatherings held at his home, his wonderful sense of humor and the time that they spent with him. David also kept a beautiful garden (and he especially enjoyed growing roses). He was also an outdoorsman, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. David was preceded in death by his parents, and his two siblings. He is survived by his wife, Mary Turner; children, Wesley Turner (wife, Kim), Anne Trammell (husband, Greg) and Ruth Pavon (husband, Nestor); his grandchildren, David (wife, Lily), Joel, Caleb (wife, Shannon), Zachariah, Daniel, Elijah, Katrina, Michaela, Kody, Levi and Grady; as well as many other beloved family members. A Private Graveside Service will be held. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held on Friday, October 4th at 2:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church, 645 Cleveland Street, Aumsville, Oregon 97325. Memorial Contributions in his honor can be made to the Union Gospel Mission – an organization that was founded in part by his father, Henry Turner.
