Agatha McAuliffe passed away at Rosewood Court in Salem, Oregon at the age of 91.  Agatha Barbara Spano was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts to John and Maria Spano.  Agatha married Ron McAuliffe on June 5, 1949 in Winthrop, Massachusetts. They honeymooned in Niagara Falls, then headed West, as teaching jobs brought them to Walsenburg, Colorado where their first daughter, Debbie was born. The second daughter, Rhonda was born in Bakersfield, California and then they moved to Lebanon, Oregon where their son, Chris and the third daughter, Teresa were born.   Agatha was a homemaker, known for her homemade cooking and baking! She worked in the fields picking seasonal fruits and vegetables at a friend’s farm during the summers.  She also provided kitchen aid and was a waitress at the Pineway Golf Club Restaurant in Lebanon. Agatha was very artistic and a talented seamstress and quilter. She sewed many bridesmaid and wedding dresses for women in the area, and belonged to a local quilting guild making quilts for her church.  Agatha was a generous neighbor and friend to many in the community.  She volunteered much of her time to local food banks and was active in organizing Lebanon community concerts.  Agatha and Ron shared their love for outdoor adventure with the whole family. Weekends were full of hiking and camping in the Oregon Cascades and the Oregon Coast.   In 1979, Agatha and Ron moved to Stayton, Oregon. Thirty-four years later, they moved to Mount Angel Towers, a senior independent living community, in Mt. Angel, Oregon, where they enjoyed daily walks, playing pool and visiting with others.  They celebrate their 70 years of marriage on June 5, 2019. Agatha is survived by her husband, Ron; daughters, Debbie, Rhonda, Teresa, and their son Chris; sisters Josephine Boushell and Concetta Disher both from Massachusetts and one brother John Spano and his wife Sherry Merrow from South Carolina. Agatha has eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  Agatha will be cremated and her ashes will be placed at the Willamette National Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
